Budget Guidelines

Every student group, organization, and Student Association department that is requesting funds for 2016-2017 must attend the Budget Process training sessions if they would like to have a budget for 2016-2017.

After a group attends the budget process training they will be able to start submitting budget requests for 2016-2017. It is very important that all forms are properly filled out when submitted, failure to properly complete a form will result in a non-acceptance of that form. The deadline to submit Operating Budgets is February 5th, 2016 by 4pm to the senate office or via email to the SA Treasurer and the Senate Administrative Assistant. Sentreas@ship.edu and ljlaug@ship.edu. Capital Expenditure Allocations are due by 4 PM on February 12th, 2016.

Explanation of the forms:

  • Operating Budget Request Sheet
    • This is the main sheet used for budgeting
    • Must be completely filled out to be able to receive a budget
    • Can either be submitted electronically or in person
    • May pick up additional copies in person from the senate office during normal hours.
  • Line Item Increase form
    • This form must be submitted if any line item on the Operating Budget Request sheet is increase.
    • Must submit one for each line on the budget
  • New Line item form
    • Must be submitted for each request for a new line item on a budget
  • Capital Expenditure Allocation Request Form
    • This form is used to request a capital expenditure
    • A capital expenditure is a onetime allocation used to purchase equipment or property for a group to use but shall remain the property of the Student Association
    • All items funded will be purchased after July 1st.
