Position Summary Information
General Description/Position Purpose

Shippensburg University Student Services, Inc., a 501c3, is currently accepting applications for a Staff Accountant in the Fiscal Office.


  • Post cash receipts to General Ledger weekly.
  • Occasionally prepare bank deposits in Accounts Receivable clerk's absence.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconcilements for Parking Decal cash and credit card sales. Annually reconcile decal inventory to financial accounts.
  • Month end Bank Reconciliations for Student Services cash accounts and all privatized housing accounts.
  • Support and assist Housing Accountant/Contract Administrator in accounting for funds related to housing construction and operations of completed privatized housing.
  • Prepare and/or post journal entries, supporting schedules, and reports for investments of privatized housing funds.
  • Assist with preparation and posting of year end accrual entries for privatized housing accounts.
  • Prepare quarterly, and more frequently if required, financial statements for privatized housing. Financial statements will include, but not be limited to a Balance Sheet and a Statement of Revenue and Expense.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of reports to be delivered to the dissemination agent as required in the Continuing Disclosure Agreements for the financing of the privatized housing. 
  • Assist with accounting for funds associated with University Store, The UPS Store and other SUSSI contracts.
  • Prepare and/or post journal entries, supporting schedules and reports, and bank deposits for Housing and Student Services, including daily recording of checks received.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 Qualifications

Qualifications include:

Working knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Maintaining a general ledger
  • Preparing account and bank reconcilements
  • Accounting for investments
  • Preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Public filing of investor disclosures

Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
