President's Welcome

Michelle Bradley

Greetings and welcome (back) to Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania! If you are returning then welcome back to your exciting journey, and if you are coming here for the first time then you’ve chosen an amazing place to begin your next phase of life.

The community of Shippensburg is an extremely inviting group of great faculty, caring professors, and the amazing students like you who want to make the most of their coming years here and excel in their future field. This “Ship Family” is welcoming to people from all backgrounds and embraces all student in its arms. I know that personally I’ve never found a place filled with such opportunity and openness as Shippensburg University.

In entering any college, one should be grateful for the opportunity to obtain a higher education and the amazing experience to come. In lieu of increasing tuitions country wide and budget cuts you can rest assured that your choice in Ship was a good investment in both your education and yourself. To get the most out of this investment I encourage all of you to reach out and become involved around you. While classes are a priority, you shouldn’t underestimate the value of experiences beyond the classroom. You have opportunities here to become involved in areas like student government, Greek life, athletics, and many other different clubs and groups. If you take advantage of these opportunities you may find that you grow as a person in ways you’ve never imagined. I know I have.

My role in the University is to serve you and your fellow students. My name is Michelle M. Bradley and I am the 52nd Student Association President. The Student Senate allocates roughly $4 million dollars, which is obtained through the activities fee and campus bookstore, to different groups and athletics teams. More than that, though, we are your voice on campus and to Shippensburg University’s administration. The Student Senate is made up of numerous committees that meet about everything from food services to campus safety and any student has the opportunity to join any of the different committees. And we want your input on these committees; we are always open and available to any and all input from the student body. Just stop on by the Senate Office (CUB 201) to let us know your thoughts, concerns, and ideas, join a committee, or run to be a Senator. If you need a specific Senator our hours are posted right outside the office and I’m always open to speaking with anyone.

These years are yours. To research, to reach out, to connect, or to do anything else you want to. You have the choice and power to make your time here whatever you want it to be and to do as much as you want to.

Best of luck as you go forward on the next of your years,

Michelle M. Bradley
Student Association President
