Let Us Know

              President's Welcome

2013 Senate President

Dear Fellow Shipmates,

Hello and welcome (back) to Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania!  If you are returning, I am sure you're just as excited as I am to continue your journey, and if you are coming to Ship for the first time know that you have picked a fabulous place to begin the next phase of your life.

The Shippensburg Community is a well knit group of great faculty, caring professors, and individuals like you and me who want to excel in their particular field and make the most of their time at Shippensburg.  The “Ship Family” as it is known on campus is welcoming to all walks of life and embraces all people in its arms

Individuals coming to Shippensburg University, or any college for that matter, should be grateful for the experience and the ability to obtain a higher education.  Between budget cuts and the increasing tuitions of colleges country wide rest assured that your investment in your education here at Ship was a good one.  Throughout your college experience you will have many opportunities to get involved in areas such as student government, athletics, Greek life, and many other different clubs and groups.  Please take advantage of these opportunities because the memories and lessons learned while participating in these groups last a life time.

I feel inclined to tell you my role in the University.  My name is Luke Perry.  I am a Pre. Med. Biology major and I am the 51st Student Association President.  My number one concern is you and how to serve you and your fellow classmate’s best.  The Student Senate allocates $4 million dollars, which is obtained through the activities fee, to different student groups and athletics teams.  We are responsible for how your activities fee is used based off votes taken in public meetings, so if you have any concerns I encourage you to voice them.  You also have the opportunity to join any of the senate committees and I encourage you to do so as well.  The Senate Office number is CUB 201.  Feel free to stop by whenever you please, the door is always open.

Best of luck and good fortune to you as you embark on the next year of your journeys!

Sincerely,

Luke Perry
Student Association President
